about

A Despondent Cry To The Night Sky uses a series of climbing left hand arpeggios throughout the work to denote the night sky and bay waves respectively. The stumbling melody at the beginning of the work represents the insects and other night creatures on the bay-shore. The ascending and descending chromatic scales in the right hand at the climax of the piece amidst an impassioned octave melody emote the desperation of a person seeking some resolution from a higher power to an inner turmoil.
